Compound follows five strangers as they are each given a deed to a luxury beach home, a title to a new car and a cashier’s check for one million dollars with promises of more to come.

Golden hasn’t had the best life, yet is as loving and trusting as a puppy. She’s unemployed and tanking financially while waiting for her fiancé to return and help save her family home from foreclosure, marry her and start a family. When she’s contacted by the lawyer representing an anonymous benefactor, she attributes the windfall to the grace of God. When the lawyer also informs her that her fiancé is living with another woman and has a baby on the way, the blow knocks her sideways.

Golden warms up slowly to her neighbors at The Pointe, the luxury beach community where her new vacation home is located. They start working out together, sharing intimate secrets, having regular dinners and forming close bonds that celebrate each other and their differences. The enjoyment of their beach summer is rocked by one explosive, climactic event leaving someone dead, many confused and all conflicted once they discover the reason they have been brought together.

We’ve all been hurt a multitude of times and most things too good to be true generally are, but what if they are given in secret to right past wrongs? What if the worst of your life was evaluated and payment was made to soften all those blows? But payment from whom? For what ills? And what consequences does accepting payment bring?

So, the book, "Compound," that's been in my brain for so long is now complete and available on Amazon!  I hope you read it and enjoy it!  I've been getting some great feedback from readers and it makes me laugh knowing how much they are connecting to the characters.  LOL!  I'm like...BE NICE TO GOLDEN, SHE'S BEEN THROUGH A LOT!!!!  LOLOLOLOL!

If you read it, please give it a review!  Oh...and yes...part two is in the making!  WHOOOOOHOOOOO!

Excellent Book: "The Nix"

I'm in the middle of this book, "The Nix," and I have absolutely no idea where the author is taking me but honestly...it doesn't matter at this point because I am enjoying the ride.  I can't tell you the last time that's happened, that I didn't know what was going to happen even a little bit.  Like...I have even stopped guessing at this point.  I'm just here for wherever he takes me.

I was cleaning up my works in progress files and ran across something that made me excited again because I finally figured out something I was trying to figure out.  LOL!  See...you kinda get stumped when you're free flow writing something and don't have a plan.  So yeah...figured out the reason for a very big why and, like I said, I'm pretty excited about it.  GO ME!

Wattpad is the site that discovered some of the big fanfiction based hits like "50 Shades of Grey", etc. and they are having a writing contest that I think this story is a good fit for.  I have until the end of August to finish it and I'm going to try and do it.

Please check it out over on Wattpad.  If you use the app, it alerts you to whenever the stories you are following are updated by the authors.  They have some really good writers and books too so poke around and discover some new stuff...FOR FREE!

If you don't mind voting for each chapter you read and following as well, that would be great.  You can also comment over there and ask questions if something was confusing.

Thank you in advance!  COMPOUND

Bookin' It: "An Ember in the Ashes" and "The Paying Guests"

I recently finished reading this book and really enjoyed it.  I read that the author wants it to be a stand alone book and I really hope that isn't the case because I need to know what happens.  It was the kind of book you found yourself rushing to get back to whenever you put it away and I was for real sad when it ended.

I found the next book on an NPR list of best reads by the staff and had it on my auto-download list on my Overdrive App. (I told you guys about this app once before and if you aren't using it yet you are TRULY missing out on the best.app.ever!!!!!!!!!)

I will say that I wasn't expecting some of the stuff that went down to go down and that it took a lot to keep me reading it but I'm wondering if it's just because the pace of the last book was so fast and this author takes her time using a lot of words to say stuff if that makes any sense.  LOL!  So yeah...haven't finished it yet and once I do I'll let yall know if it was good.  If you've read it...what grade did you give it?  Don't give anything up, ESPECIALLY the thing that went down that I wasn't expecting to go down and if you read it you probably felt the same way once it went down.  LOL!  As I was just now looking for the link to it on Amazon and well...had I read about it on Amazon I wouldn't have been surprised.  Oh well...my bad.  Now I gotta know though.  I WILL FINISH THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!

Whatchall reading?  Anything to recommend?

I don't miss many science fiction movies and I read and have read my fair share of science fiction novels.  I enjoy escaping into a world filled with new experiences and people/beings which differ from what I'm used to.  I get that from my father, who loved him some science fiction too.

What about you?  Do you enjoy science fiction?  Who introduced you to it?  What about your kids?  Do they enjoy science fiction?  What's the last science fiction you read?  I'm currently reading this one:  The Martian

Rest in peace, Mr. Nimoy.

Books Can Change Your Life!

Being kinder and gentler in your old age seems to be the norm.  What also seems to be the norm is the old saying, "To whom much is given...much is expected."  Because of this...some of us have a much greater penchant to forgive and let live because we are blessed in so many ways we know we can use the energy to hold grudges for other, far more positive, things.

Human nature is kinda cool like that.

HOWEVER...it makes you wonder...how is inner peace reached by those who seem to consistently have it hard?  If you don't have something to look forward to...where does your imagination take you?  Especially if you've never been someone who reads often?

Do you think adults can start picking up books and reading and get the same sense of everything those of us who are lifelong readers have?  Can people be taught that it's okay to expect more of life because they will see more than they ever thought possible by reading?

Or would those same grudge holders stay in place treading water mad because others are moving?

What are YOU reading now?  What's the last book you told folks about?
